How to play Portal 2 on LAN COOP?
Well guys I am very much addicted to the games, and now days I am playing Portal 2 on Windows 7 and I liked it very much, I have to PC in my house and both are have high configuration to play this type of games and guys here I need your help to connect these to PC’s by LAN CO-OP, I want to play this game with my brother so guys ca you help me out, how can I connect this to PC’s to play this game, please give me the code or set of instruction for this game to play via LAN.

Mate this is quite easy to connect, I had done it by me self here’s the some set of instruction which you have to follow to play this game via LAN.
A> First you have to login to steam on the 1st PC and then go offline and run Portal 2.
B> Do the same thing on 2nd PC.
C> Now enable the console on both the PC’s.
D> Now suppose you are using 1st PC as host then type “sv_lan1”.
E> And now on the second PC type “connect”
F> And now in the end on the 1st PC type “map Mp_coop_start”.

Thanks for posting this query even I want to play on this game on LAN but I don’t how to play it via LAN. But the above information is not correct I guess because I have tried the solution given by the above user but it didn’t work for me. There are many things which are not complete, so guys if there is anyone who’s playing this game on two different PC’s then please share the solution or the instruction to connect the PC to play this game.

I have a different solution for you guys, you can use it to play via LAN COOP, I haven’t used it but I know the procedure so just try it once it’s very short procedure it will take only few minutes. First got to this folder “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\portal 2\portal2\scripts” Or to the relevant folder or drive where you installed Portal 2. Now you have to add the following code in the “extras.txt”

"subtitle" "sv_lan 1"
"pic" "vgui/extras/attract01"
"command" "sv_lan 1"
}

"lobby"
{
"title" "Start Coop Lobby"
"subtitle" "Kind of pointless..."
"pic" "vgui/extras/attract01"
"command" "map mp_coop_lobby_2"
}
Now to start LAN all the host computers have to your extras menu, select “Switch to LAN”. And you have to wait till the other player connects and after that click on “Start Coop Lobby”.
Let me know it works.

That’s so nice of you guys, I haven’t got any replies from other sites and I have also emailed this query to the support staff of the game but still I am waiting for the reply, and mean while I tried the solution given by the users first method didn’t clicked for me but the second method done the trick for me. And now finally I am able to play this on LAN. Thank you guys for helping me out on this topic, I didn’t find any other forum site so active.

I am trying to play Portal 2 co-op on LAN. i have tried bolt ways, but each time i get the "Your Partner Has disconnected." error. a am using a 2008 iMac and a 2011 Macbook Pro, a Apple Air port extreme.

ps i am thinking about just making a new steam acc and buying it agin.
