I am happy with the PC interface of the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Hello guys I am happy with the PC interface of this game but I am not able to understand why the people are saying that they are not happy with it. I picked up Skyrim for PC today, knowing all about the UI problems people are experiencing. I've experienced none of them. The mouse works perfectly fine in all menus, even the character creation screen; it's quite intuitive, and very similar, with a few exceptions, to Oblivion. I'm really quite comfortable with it and have had no problems. I really think that there are two possibilities for the problems people are having on PC. I'm willing to bet that most of the problems people are having is because they are not reading the manual. A problem with your particular setup / user error. If the game works fine for me, but not for you, then it's likely a problem with YOUR set up. That does NOT mean that Bethesda is off the hook, if there is a problem with a particular combination of hardware, then they need to work that out and figure out a patch or workaround, but it's not lousy bug testing, a careless port, hatred for PC players, etc.

I agree with you. The interface is definitely not as bad as many people are making it out to be. It does have some problems, it's got some bugs, but it works and it's a lot better than Oblivion's default interface. It's certainly not a game-breaker.

It’s totally fine for me. If you are having problems I'm sorry, but it's not the game, because it works perfectly for me. It's a compatibility issue with your setup and the game, or user error, period. Not trying to be insulting, it's just reality. If it's a problem with hardware compatibility, then Beth needs to issue a patch, but it's not an overarching issue with the design, it's a tech issue that needs to be worked out, at worst.

First time playing a game like this and while the interface could be a lot better, I didn't have any issues with it. I would rather see all my inventory at once using little icons rather than a list though. It would look better and be faster.

I'm just trying to reassure PC users that whatever problems are being reported is setup specific, not an overarching problem with the game. As for the design of the UI, that is a different question than the functionality of the UI. It functions 100% properly for me. Are there some design changes that I might make? Possibly I've only played for a few hours so far, but I'm pretty much fine with the UI.

I consider it’s either a compatibility issue among their particular hardware setup and the software, OR user error. If it's a setup specific problem, yes Beth wants to work it out, however it's not an inherent difficulty through the game; it's presently a tech issue.

I completely agree with the OP. The UI is totally fine and nowhere near have what most posts claimed it to be. It's very usable and aside from missing some conveniences such as item comparison or hotkeys for inventory, it's not bad at all. In fact, I don't mind it one bit. I'm sure others have legitimate problems with the UI. However it's working perfectly well for me also, I'm really enjoying playing it with mouse & keyboard.

Is the UI usable and fairly easy to understand, once you use it for more than about five minutes? Could Bethesda have taken advantage of the fact that the PC version will be played by the overwhelming majority of people using a mouse and keyboard to make it better? The PC version's UI is not atrociously bad, but it could have been better.

I would have preferred if I could sort inventory by weight so I can figure out what is heaviest and cheapest to drop when I have too much gear (and maybe I can do that and just haven't figured it out yet), but this is a little thing. Over all the UI is far better than Oblivion.

People who bought this game on steam seem to be missing their manual. That means it's not a reading problem as you suggest but rather a lack of reading material that is the problem. So since you have your manual and have it all figured out.
