Computer won't go online, AVG found 20 virus
I am having problem with my computer since yesterday, it won't go online anymore. I am using cable modem. The modem is working properly. I tried removing the NIC and reinstalling but nothing. Ran winsock fix but nothing. Removed some unnecessary softwares. It got online for about 1 hour but afterward got the same issue again. I ran AVG antivirus software and found 20 viruses and Trojans. What should I do now other than reinstalling windows?

Try re-installing Ethernet controller drivers. Also try to run some malware scanner and see if you really get some virus or Trojans detected. I don't believe AVG at all. Try using "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware", I personally use these and I am happy with it. If you found that your system is really infected then remove them.

Did you tried rebooting or resetting the modem? Try that, it works most of the time with people having connection issues. If that didn't solve your problem than I don't think there would be any solution other than reinstalling the operating system.

OK, thanks for you replies guys.
I also thought that I need to reinstall Windows. I had also tried doing System Restore to a point to a day previous to this issue but that didn't helped either. So, I will reinstall the OS anyway. If you have any further suggestions then they are also welcomed.
