Firefox won't open particular websites
I have been using Firefox for for a while now and have never faced such problems with it before. Whenever I try to access particular websites using Firefox, it does not open them. The browser gives an error saying "Page cannot be displayed". This happens for the particular websites only. Therefore if anybody knows why Firefox won't open particular websites then please suggest some solutions. For additional information the computer is running on Windows XP and the default browser is Firefox. Thanks in advance.

I think the version of the browser which is installed on your computer is corrupt and hence you are facing such problems with it. The applications which are installed on the computer have lot of files which are associated to it. If any of the files which are associated to it gets corrupt then the application will not run properly. To solve such a problem either find and replace the files which have got corrupt or remove the current installed version of the browser from the computer and then install it again.

Have you tried using some other browser for accessing internet? There are many browsers which are available online which can be used instead of Mozilla firefox. Google chrome, Safari, Opera etc are amongst the browsers which are available. All these browsers have more or less same features like Firefox and hence can be used without any problems. Download one of the mentioned browser and then see if you are able to open the websites which are creating problem. If the website opens in the other browser then the Firefox installation on your computer needs repair else the website itself is having problem.

There is a high possibility that the computer which you are using is infected by some virus which is not allowing the browser to access the websites. Some virus when downloaded on the system change the preferences of the browser so that the user is not allowed to visit certain website. Hence scan the system with some updated antivirus and see the files which are infected with the virus. If there are any files which are infected with virus then try and repair or quarantine them. Once all infected files are quarantined or repaired, see if the browser is working properly or not.

Sometimes the add-ons and the applications which are installed on the browser create problems while accessing the internet using the browser. If the files of the add-on or the application itself is corrupt then it will corrupt the files of the browser when installed. To be sure if the problem which you are facing with the browser is due to the add-on or the application installed, start the browser in safe mode. To start the browser in safe mode, type "firefox.exe/safemode". In safe mode all the add-ons and the applications are disabled hence if the problem is with the add-on or the application then the browser will work properly in safe mode. If the browser works fine in safe mode, then find and remove the application which is creating problems in the browser.

If the website has some compressed content on it then the Mozilla firefox will not be able to open the website. Mozilla browsers do not support the websites with compressed content. Therefore check if the website is having compressed content on it by using some other browser like Internet explorer. If the website is having compressed content there is nothing much you can do about it as Mozilla firefox does not support the content compressed websites.
