how do i un restrict my laptop
i purchased this dell used and im guessing it used to be a hospitals.now i cannot download much like java, for limewire among other things.and alot of sites are restricted as well. all it says is contact blah blah blah support with a phone number but that place is out of business, which is the hospital.im not a wizz on computers but i know my way around a little bit, is there a way to bypass all this stuff so i have laptop freedom??? its a latitude d820. please help this is outta control

Try to use Proxy Server this will allow you to use restricted sites.

Why dont you use proxy sites. see here Some Proxy sites are Required the list of proxy sites available to surf internet.

Which JAVA related files you are trying to download? or are you trying to download the JAVA files from the sun microsystems site? If you are trying to download the full version of java files which size is over 150 MB then there would be some steps that needs to be follow, but that steps also given on there site.follow that, if you still has problem please let me know.

Is there any firewall installed in your laptop ? becoz firewall is very important program for restricting unauthorised sites for the security reasons. If you need to unrestrict your laptop, try to uninstall the firewall.....

how and were do i go to find out about a firewall???/ if i end up not having one how do iinstall one? its restricted im guessing cuz patients would use the laptops there so im guessing they would restrict what they could do on them ya know?

it says i have to be an administrator to turn firewall on or chnge any of the settings in that section
