What is the iChat Jabber Account
Hi,
I have heard about some enhancement in Snow Leopard for iChat. I am managing a MAC network of some dozen pc's. The issue is that I want to manipulate all the new enhancements in the operating system. Like iChat management and other services. As compare to MAC OS X what new is provided in Snow leopard for a better management of mac network. What does this iChat Jabber account offers.

Since the release of Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) iChat supports Jabber accounts. This innovation could go unnoticed until the protocol is not widespread among the general public, who would have preferred to support a more common protocol like MSN (now Windows Live Messenger), the Microsoft protocol. For copyright reasons this Protocol including, Apple has not integrated into its instant messaging application.

Jabber is an instant messaging protocol along with AIM, MSN or Yahoo! Messenger. It has however the distinction of being open source and be multi-protocols. It is open source, allowing anyone to obtain and use a free mail server Jabber. This is very interesting because it allows not having to use a closed solution and through a centralized server such as Microsoft protocol, which is not secure, and the closed design which raises issues of confidentiality or security a sensitive use in enterprise.

The fact that Jabber is multi-protocol means that a person operating a public Jabber server is able to make contact with other networks, like MSN or Yahoo using gateways. If the Jabber server you choose to use features such gateways, you can configure your account to take care of your MSN contacts, among others. The audio / video conferencing.

Unfortunately, implementation Jabber in iChat does not use the fabulous capabilities of iChat videoconferencing. For those seeking a client for Mac that supports audio / video, I invite you to read the article comparing the IM clients. You can create accounts as you need and use the Jabber Server to work on the same online with your users. It is easy to generate accounts and work on it.

Jabber is an instant messaging protocol open standard based on XML standard language. The network of users of Jabber is decentralized. It works similarly to that email, that is to say that a user is identified by a username and a server name, the two fields are separated by a sign "at" (@) . This identifier is called a Jabber ID. Instant messages are transferred from one user to another through their respective server.
